TRIPS
Transportation services are provided to Seniors, the general public, or available to other organizations through contracts with TRIPS. TRIPS stands for Transportation Resources for Independent People of Sandusky County. It is a partnership of county government and social service agencies collaborating to provide a rural transit service. It offers transportation Monday through Saturday from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. by reservation. Closed holidays.
In 1997, 11 agencies collaborated to establish TRIPS after a survey to area businesses revealed that transportation was one of the top barriers to residents seeking employment. TRIPS operated effectively for four years until it evolved into a rural transit system funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration.
Current TRIPS' Partners are:
- Chamber of Commerce of Sandusky County
- Community Health Services
- Community Representatives
- Memorial Hospital
- NAACP - Fremont Branch
- Sandusky County Board of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities
- Sandusky County Commissioners
- Sandusky County Department of Job and Family Services
- Sandusky County Economic Development Corporation
