Caregiver Support

Residents of Sandusky County who care for their sick and/or elderly loved ones can find support through the Caregiver Support program operated by the Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio, Inc.

The program's goal is to provide support, education, and outreach to those residents who are caring for individuals who are either 60 years or older and frail, or those who are 60 years or older and who may be caring for individuals 18 years and younger meeting the definition of grandchild, or a family member who is diagnosed with mental retardation or a development disability.

The program aims to help these caregivers better understand their role as caregiver; the consequences of being a caregiver; when, how and where to access assistance services for themselves and their loved ones; how to use service/information to decrease stress; how to better care for their loved one; and to understand the needs of caregivers.

For more information on caregiver services and current dates on workshops or support groups, call 1-800-472-7277.
