Family Development
WSOS provides comprehensive family development, workforce development, education and child care assistance and other support services to families and individuals desiring to obtain basic needs stability, greater independence and self sufficiency.
Staff help families prepare for successful employment opportunities. We help individuals gain and retain employment with benefits, provide follow up services to ensure long term job retention and build community partnerships to support these efforts.
This is addressed through basic needs financial assistance programs, family and workforce development activities including case management, life skills, educational and vocational development and individual counseling.

June 16, 2008 - Summer Cooling program to serve fewer
With a budget of only $30,000 in 2008, the annual WSOS Summer Cooling Program, which served 597 residents last year at a cost of $125,595 will serve fewer residents in the WSOS four-county service area. The high demand of the 2008 winter heating programs and fewer federal resources [continued]

June 5, 2008 - WSOS seeking residents who’ve given up on finding jobs
Those residents who have believe they cannot and will not be hired for full-time jobs can find hope through a new program offered at WSOS Community Action Commission Inc.

May 30, 2008 - Summer Cooling program starts July 1 - with changes
Unlike previous years, the Summer Cooling Program operated by WSOS will begin July 1 and last until August 31, or until funds are exhausted, whichever comes first.

May 9, 2008 - CCC corps members help city clean up bike trail
With warmer temperatures arriving and residents ready to play outside, staff at the Fremont City Recreation Department found themselves overwhelmed to keep up with the maintenance and spring-cleaning of its facilities. So, Recreation Director Marc Glotzbecker solicited the assistance of the corps members at the WSOS Civilian Conservation Corps Camp in Green Springs. [continued]

May 5, 2008 - Clyde’s New Directions ready for summer
On Monday, June 16, New Directions Summer School program will open its doors to elementary school students in the Clyde-Green Springs school district. Enrollment for this summer program is taking place now.
