Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP)

Overview

The Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP) offers two two services under one program:

Home Rehabilitation – A combination of grant and deferred interest free loan. There are no payments until the sale or transfer of the home. Homeowners may qualify for up to $30,000 worth of repairs on their home.

Home Repair – All assistance is a grant that will never have to be repaid. Homeowners may qualify for up to $8,000 in repairs that need to be completed on their homes. This assistance typically covers one major repair.

Typical work includes: Foundation repairs Electrical repairs Plumbing repairs Window replacement New roofs New furnaces Insulation Siding repair

Does NOT include: New kitchens/bathrooms Porch enclosures New siding Carpet installation/replacement

Eligibility Requirements

• Eligible to owner occupied homeowners.

Funds are currently available in the following communities until all funds have been allocated:

• Allen County
• City of Fostoria
• City of Fremont
• City of Norwalk
• Ottawa County
• City of Port Clinton
• Putnam County
• Sandusky County
• Seneca County
• City of Tiffin
