Public invited to visit new TRIPS building

The public is invited to attend an open house at the new TRIPS building at 2317 Countryside Drive, Fremont.

Beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, members of the community can visit the new building located behind the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Department building.

Tours of the building will be available for those who visit the facility. TRIPS is a community-supported service operated by WSOS Community Action Commission.

The 17,000-square-foot building houses all TRIPS vehicles indoors and provides office space for dispatchers and the scheduler, the transportation coordinator, and other support staff.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted in December before the building was occupied.

The new building was made possible by funding from the American Recovery and Re-Investment Act through the Ohio Department of Transportation. In addition, the funds were provided to the Sandusky County commissioners. WSOS transportation staff worked with commissioners to complete the facility.
