Tiffin EHEAP office location changed

Seneca County residents living in the Tiffin area and who may be seeking assistance to pay their heating bills will have to go to a different location and call a different phone this year.
The Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (EHEAP) operated by WSOS Community Action Commission will see applicants at the Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS) located at 3362 S. Township Road151, Tiffin. However, applicants have to call the Fremont office to schedule an appointment. That phone number is 419-334-5126 or toll free at 1-888-441-4327.
Those in the Fostoria area can find assistance at the same place as before.
The 2011-12 program begins November 1 and residents needing assistance may begin calling the week of Oct. 24 to make an appointment.
This year’s program maintains the increase in the income limits set last year so that more people may be eligible for assistance. The amount of assistance per household also remains the same as last year - $750 for those who use propane – and up to $350, depending on electric and heating source.
Usually, EHEAP provides emergency assistance to income-eligible households which meet the income guidelines and which have received a disconnect notice or have less than a 10-day supply of bulk fuel.

Households not in an emergency situation may receive assistance with heating bills from regular Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). This program also provides a one-time per heating season assistance with paying some heating bills. However, these applicants must file their applications themselves. WSOS can provide the applications after November 1.
Appointments are required for EHEAP applicants. To make an appointment for EHEAP help, in Wood County call 419-353-7407; in Ottawa County, call 419-734-2652; in Seneca County - Fostoria – call 419-435-4884; or in Sandusky County, call 419-334-5126.
