Passenger Care program earns Best Practice award

The Passenger Care Attendant (PCA) program operated by WSOS TRIPS transportation was one of seven Community Action programs in Ohio to be named a Best Practice program. This is WSOS’ sixth Best Practice award since the award was instituted.

The Ohio Association of Community Action Agencies (OACAA) presented the award to WSOS during its annual winter conference in Columbus.

The Best Practices award recognizes and honors proven innovative and effective programs, projects, processes, procedures or strategies that member community action agencies have participated in to serve its communities. It is a collaboration of OACAA and the John Glenn Institute for Public Policy and Public Service of The Ohio State University. WSOS is a member of OACAA, and submitted the program for consideration.

The PCA program provides door-through-door services to residents in Sandusky County who use TRIPS transportation and who need assistance on and off the vehicles. It is available to anyone in Sandusky County but must be requested at the time of the reservation. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance to use TRIPS transportation.

In addition to the five previous Best Practice awards, WSOS programs have earned another two honorable mention Best Practice awards.
