WSOS Fostoria center enrolling preschoolers now

For residents seeking affordable childcare in the Fostoria community, the WSOS center in Fostoria is the place for you.

The WSOS Fostoria Center provides childcare and preschool services to income-eligible families of children birth to five years old. Currently, the center is enrolling children three to five years old.

These children will receive comprehensive early childhood services through the Head Start program. The program provides early childhood education services, nutrition/health services for the child, as well as social services assistance for the entire family.

Also, the Fostoria center has earned a Two-Star Quality Award from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Bureau of Child Care and Development, indicating the quality of childcare that children at the center receive. A Three-Star award is the highest.

Options at the center include full and half-day classes and/or home visitation services. Families who enroll in these programs benefit by having access to a variety of community resources, diverse parent education programs, and other social services that can assist the family to become self-sufficient.

Eligible families are those whose total annual incomes do not exceed 100 percent of the federal poverty guidelines for Early Head Start/Head Start This means that a family of four can receive services only if the family's household income is $22,050 per year or less. Families who are eligible for childcare subsidies through the county's department of Job and Family Services are also eligible for assistance at the Fostoria Center.
