Weatherization adds energy-efficiency in any season

Adding insulation, low-wattage lightbulbs, and other changes can greatly reduce a home’s energy usage, no matter what the temperature is outside.

WSOS Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) provides these services at no cost to eligible residents of Wood, Sandusky, Ottawa, Seneca, Erie and Huron counties. Along with attic and wall insulation and compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs), HWAP also offers low-flow showerheads, energy education and other services to reduce home utility usage.

“Utility rates may go up or down, but weatherizing a home provides residents with better control over the amount of energy their home expends,” WSOS Housing & Energy Director Terry Jacobs said.

In 2016, WSOS provided 154 homes with HWAP services.
