Home sewage treatment monies available to Wyandot County homeowners

Homeowners in Wyandot County may be eligible to receive up to 100 percent of the cost of a home sewage treatment system repair or replacement.  The Wyandot County General Health District recently received funding to begin repair or replacements of failing septic systems.

The program offers 50, 85 or 100 percent funding for the repair or replacement of a failing septic system based on their total household income. Rental properties are not eligible. The grant is anticipated to assist at least 10 households on a first-come, first-served basis.

This program provides assistance to homeowners with old or problem septic systems since new home sewage rules are pushing local health departments to evaluate all home sewage treatment systems in the county in the near future.

The Wyandot County General Health District has contracted with WSOS Community Action Commission’s Sandusky River Watershed Specialist to administer this program to ensure applicant confidentiality and to assist homeowners throughout the process.

For an application or questions about the program, interested parties should contact Cindy Brookes at 419-334-5016 or by email at cabrookes@wsos.org.
