WSOS Senior Day

Senior Day is right around the corner. This activity is a celebration of all senior citizens in Sandusky County and it is in recognition of the National Older Americans Month.

This year’s theme is L.I.F.E. (Learning Is For Everyone).
Co-Sponsor of the Event is Terra’s Elder College.
 
SENIOR DAY PROGRAM

Doors open at 10:00 with registration in Building B, parking in the East Lot. Access to Building B from the East side. Signs will be posted.
 
Arrive early and try out one the workshops that begin at 10:15 a.m. The workshops are 30 minutes long. Select from the following: 
 
1.             “Dance in Music” sampler by Jean Vestal of Elder College – Jean offeres a six week class to learn how dance and music have influenced each other. She provides an overview of ballet, tap, and dance trends in music. Each generation has a dance or music which inspired the dance. Part of the six week class includes listening to music and watching films for examples.
 
2.             “Painting with Water Colors” sampler by James Andrews of Elder College – He will provide a sample of the class which consists of studio time, demonstration lesson and critique. 
 
3.             “Wood Carving” sampler by James Andrews of Elder College – This sample will show how the full class starts with a small wood block of basswood and the knife made especially for carving wood. He will explain how enrollees in the 6 week class will create an object “in the round” that is very rewarding and learn how to put the final touch to a carving.
 
4.             “Zumba Dancing”session conducted by Angie Schroeder of Elder College/Kern Center – This sample will get your blood stirring! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you’ve got Zumba class.
 
5.             “Getting Around Town” – Have you ever used TRIPS? Check out the new van, ask questions and get answers to transportation needs. 
 
6.             “Bingo” – Yes, tips on how to play bingo and WIN, by the professionals! Get a chance to play bingo for prizes.
 
7.             “Wii Bowing & Tennis” – What is all the fuss about? If you haven’t seen it or tried it, now’s your chance.
 
Lunch – Served at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Activity Center(Gym). The WSOS Kitchen will provide a delicious lunch, which will be served by the Culinary program from Vanguard headed up by Chef Boyer.
